You spend a third of your life on it. When was it last cleaned?

Think about your mattress. You sleep on it every night, for years. Sweat — about a cup a night per person. Dead skin cells, millions of them. Body oils. The occasional spill, the kids jumping on the bed, the dog that sneaks up when you are not looking. All of it sinks into the mattress, and almost nobody ever cleans it. Not once in the ten years they own it.

Now think about Florida humidity on top of that. A mattress in Orlando absorbs moisture from the air year-round. Damp plus warm plus skin cells equals dust mites — millions of them living in the average old mattress. Dust mite waste is one of the most common allergy triggers there is. If you wake up congested, sneezy, or with itchy eyes, your mattress is a prime suspect.

Professional mattress cleaning fixes this. We deep clean the sleep surface with hot water extraction — the same proven method as carpet cleaning, adjusted for mattress materials. We pull out the dust mites, their waste, sweat residues, and odors. You sleep on a clean surface that night.

What lives in your mattress

Dust mites are the main residents. They are microscopic — you cannot see them — but a mattress that is several years old can hold millions. They feed on dead skin and thrive in humidity, which makes Orlando mattresses ideal mite habitats. The mites themselves are harmless, but their droppings trigger allergic reactions: morning congestion, sneezing fits, itchy eyes, and worsened asthma.

Sweat and body oils are the second layer. Every night adds more, and over years it builds into a yellowish discoloration on the mattress surface — that is not just staining, it is residue that feeds mites and holds odor. Pet dander, pollen from open windows, and dust complete the picture.

Stains are the visible part: sweat marks, spills, kids' accidents, pet accidents. Most mattress stains respond to the same enzyme and heat treatment we use on carpet and upholstery. Old, set stains may lighten but not vanish completely — we tell you what to expect before we start.

How we clean mattresses

We clean the sleep surface and the sides — the areas you actually contact. First, we vacuum thoroughly with strong suction to pull out loose dust, dander, and surface mites. Second, we pre-treat stains individually with the right chemistry for each stain type: enzymes for organic stains, oxidizers for discoloration.

Third, we deep clean with hot water extraction using an upholstery tool. Lower moisture than carpet cleaning — mattresses cannot get soaked — but enough heat and extraction to kill dust mites and pull contaminants out of the padding layers. Fourth, we treat for odor if needed, with enzyme neutralizers rather than perfumes. Fifth, we set up air movers. A mattress needs good airflow to dry, usually 4 to 8 hours.

We do not flip your mattress — most modern mattresses are one-sided. We clean the sleeping side and the sides. If you have a two-sided mattress, we can do both.

Stains, odors, and pet accidents

Sweat staining is the most common issue, and it responds well — the yellowish buildup lightens considerably with proper treatment. Urine accidents (kids and pets) need enzyme treatment that breaks down the crystals, the same approach as our carpet pet treatment. Blood, food, and drink spills each get their specific chemistry.

Odor is often the bigger complaint than stains. A mattress that smells musty usually has mildew from humidity, or built-up sweat and oils. Deep extraction removes the source rather than covering it. For severe odor we do a second enzyme treatment pass. What we will not do is drown the smell in fragrance — that fades in days and the odor comes back.

When cleaning helps and when it does not

Cleaning helps any mattress that is dirty, stained, or allergen-loaded but structurally sound. If your mattress is less than 8 to 10 years old and still supportive, cleaning is absolutely worth it — you are probably keeping it for years, so make those years clean.

Cleaning does not fix a worn-out mattress. If it sags, the springs poke, or you wake up sore, no cleaning solves that — you need a new mattress. We will tell you straight if your mattress is past the point where cleaning is worth the money. We would rather lose the job than take money for a clean mattress you are replacing next month.

Our process

Tell us the mattress size and what is wrong with it — stains, odor, allergies, or just years of use. We quote a firm per-mattress price. On the job, strip the bed before we arrive (we need the bare surface). We vacuum, pre-treat, extract, treat odor if needed, and set up drying. Put clean sheets on once it is dry — usually by evening for a morning job. Every project is different — contact us for a free written estimate.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should a mattress be cleaned?

Every 12 to 24 months for most people. Every 6 to 12 months if you have allergies, asthma, pets that sleep on the bed, or kids with nighttime accidents. If you wake up congested most mornings, it is overdue.

Can you get sweat stains out of a mattress?

Most sweat discoloration lightens considerably with proper treatment. Very old, deep yellowing may not vanish completely — we give you an honest read on each stain before we start.

Is mattress cleaning safe? Will it get moldy inside?

Yes, when done right. We use controlled moisture — enough to clean, not enough to soak the interior — and we set up air movers for thorough drying. Mold comes from a mattress that stays wet, which is why proper extraction and drying are the whole job.

How long does a mattress take to dry?

Usually 4 to 8 hours with good airflow. Run the AC and a ceiling fan. Do not put sheets back on until it is fully dry — trapping moisture under bedding slows drying and can cause mustiness.

Do you clean both sides of the mattress?

We clean the sleeping side and the sides. Most modern mattresses are one-sided. If yours is two-sided, we can clean both — just tell us when you book.

My kid had an accident on the bed. Can you fix it?

Usually yes. Urine needs enzyme treatment that breaks down the crystals below the surface — the same approach we use for carpet. Fresh accidents respond best, but even old ones usually improve dramatically.
